Woodland Cabin Retreat
Fife, Scotland
Woodland Cabin Retreat is a concept design for a 40m² tiny home nestled in the woods of Fife, Scotland. Designed as a peaceful sanctuary immersed in nature, the cabin features an open-plan layout with integrated kitchen, dining, living, and sleeping areas, alongside a multifunctional space that accommodates dressing, storage, utility functions, and bathroom.
Generous windows and strategically placed roof lights frame dramatic views of the surrounding woodland, offering a strong sense of connection with the outdoors. An oriel window creates a cosy nook for reading or quiet reflection, while a roof light above the headboard invites stargazing and glimpses of the forest canopy.
To improve thermal comfort, all services and storage are consolidated along the northern elevation, creating an insulated buffer against the colder climate. The proposal makes use of locally sourced stone and timber to help integrate the cabin with its natural surroundings, while minimising environmental impact.
