Fairfield
Illogan, Cornwall
A simple asymmetric form in which the internal spaces of the residence were configured according to sunlight. As such, the master bedroom is located to the east, services to the north, and a large double-height kitchen-dining-living space to the west.
The structure comprises a timber frame build with exposed oak portal frames in the living area. Shou-sugi-ban cladding, a Japanese technique in which timber is charred, producing a natural waterproofing protection, envelopes the exterior.
