A renovation of a single-storey family home in Pasadena, currently in disrepair. The clients wanted to visualise their new home with newly restored exterior wall and roof finishes, including locally sourced, vertical wood siding and a standing seam zinc roof, better integrating the building within its wooded setting.
The internal layout was reconfigured and opened up to create a taller, more spacious living-kitchen-dining area, with access to the south-west-facing garden through large sliding doors.
A decking and pergola were implemented to allow for alfresco dining and enable the client to control the comfort of the hot Californian climate through various solar shading and ventilation techniques.
