Architectural Process

At FORMA Architecture, we structure the design process into stages, following the RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) Plan of Work. This framework provides a systematic approach to design and construction, ensuring that each phase is comprehensively addressed.

Stage 1
Brief and Preparation

We will meet via video to discuss your intentions and create a brief that sets out everything you want to achieve. Using a topographical and building survey, we will also produce a preliminary set of drawings of the existing site and any existing buildings. This will provide a foundation for subsequent stages.

Stage 2
Concept Design

Using your brief, we will create various designs, typically in plan and 3D, that address your intentions and the building’s context. We will then review the designs together via video to identify your preferences and to gather your feedback to refine the concepts further.

Stage 3
Planning Permission

Using your feedback in the previous stage, we will develop the design and produce a full planning permission application drawing package and design statement which will be submitted to your local planning authority to procure planning permission approval.
